Oakland Opens 20th Season With Sweep of Duquesne

Rochester, MI- Oakland (2-0-0) opened its 20th season with a 3-0 win on Friday night and 3-1 win Saturday night against Duquesne at the ONYX Ice Arena.

On Friday, Goalie Ian Dvorak (1-0-0) received the start in net for Oakland making 24 saves. It was the first career shutout for Dvorak.

Forward Luke Mackin set the tone for Oakland by scoring two goals on the night, along with a tally for defenseman Gino Mini.

Notes: Oakland outshot Duquesne 32-24. Forward Ben Grudzien and forward Chandler Gillespie both recorded two assists. Forward James Bayagich and forward Jacob Novack both recorded an assist, the duos first points at Oakland.

On Saturday it was a night of first for several new Golden Grizzlies, including goalie Joshua Pack (1-0-0) made his first start in net for Oakland. Pack made 18 saves on the night during his first career victory.

Oakland received goals from defenseman Daniel Scorzo, the first of his career and forward Nic Fernandez, the first of his career. Forward Chase Sereno added an empty net goal in the third period to seal the victory.

Next: Oakland (2-0-0) host the Drexel Dragons (2-0-0) Friday night at 8:40pm and Saturday night at 8:30pm at the ONYX Ice Arena.
